"Eye" Challenge

I challenged myself to do sketches of eyes. I only allowed myself 10mins per eye. Which is hard for the perfectionist in me.

I've seen lots of other artists do this as a practice method. I defiantly enjoyed it and plan on doing more exercises soon!

"Welcoming a new generation"

(Work In Progress)
16x20
Oil
This is the painting that I was working on during the All Breeds Convention this weekend. This painting has a very special meaning to my husband and his family. It's my tribute to their amazing cow Leisa. My husband and her formed a very special bond. They spent many long summer days traveling from show to show. Throughout NY and PA. She eventually was nominated Reserve All American Ayrshire. Sadly though she became infected with Cancer last year and could no longer rise up off the ground. So my husband was forced to put her down. Like all farmers we try to be optimistic and look forward. So here is my tribute to an amazing cow and an amazing man.

(As Leisa is walking away she stops to look back as her two daughters welcome a new heifer calf.
 (The next generation)."

I just found out my little chickadee painting sold the first night of the Holiday Show! I hope they enjoy this little painting as much as I did painting it :)
